Jona Hahn
What fascinates you most about music? For me, music is the medium to express myself with my feelings. I am particularly fascinated by the different emotions music can evoke. How do I reach listeners in a certain way, and why can one moment elicit different reactions from different people? Music is a simple medium to bring people from different cultural backgrounds together and creates a simple and universal level of communication.
Which musician has influenced you the most so far? On my musical path I was inspired by many different musicians. Examples include Chilly Gonzales, Cory Henry, Jacob Collier and most recently Aaron Parks.
With which band/soloists have you always wanted to be on stage? Snarky Puppy, because the band was my first contact with jazz and I've always been fascinated by their music. In addition, I am impressed by the flexibility and adaptability of the individual musicians through constantly changing line-ups and arrangements, which means that every concert has something new to offer.
What is your life outside of music like? 80% of my life is music – the rest is friends, family and sports.
