The Winner is ... MATHIS EVERDING
The winner of the 2025 YOUNG JAZZ TALENT AWARD, GUITAR ONLY, was announced on May 10, 2025, at the Jazz Schmiede in Düsseldorf.
25-year-old Mathis Everding convincingly earned this year's award with great commitment and two of his own compositions. The jury and the audience praised his technically outstanding playing, his range, his stage presence, his dedication, and, above all, his harmonious interaction with the band. The pieces he performed with great confidence were "Just Passing" and "Red Moon Blues", both composed by him, and "Ride" by Wolfgang Muthspiel.
Mathis is in his eighth semester at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, studying with Frank Sichmann in the "Jazz – Performing Artist" program.
CONCERT TOUR OF THE WINNER
In fall 2025 – in the period 04.– 25.10.2025 – the Mathis Everding Quartett will perform in Wuppertal, Krefeld, Oldenburg and Düsseldorf.
